Our Focus

Please note – Debbie primarily works with individual adults and does not provide couple’s counseling or anyone under the age of 18.

Grief & Loss

People are often surprised by how long grief can last and that it is perennial. Attempts at numbing may work for a season, but grief insists on being given a voice. Therapy allows you to let the waves of grief come without being alone.

Trama & Abuse

Time does not heal all wounds. The harm from trauma and abuse can change how we see ourselves and often sets us up for future trauma. Therapy can change this trajectory, and help you feel safe inside of yourself again or for the first time.

Anxiety & Depression

These symptoms are pervasive in our culture and are often treated as a problem to cure. Feelings of anxiety and depression, however, can be information leading us to deeper issues. Therapy is a place we can look into these feelings and rediscover parts of ourselves.

Areas of Expertise

Trauma, Abuse, Church and/or Spiritual Abuse, Grief/Bereavement, Anxiety and Depression, Christian Counseling, and Stress Management.

Lifespan Integration

Lifespan Integration is a gentle, body-based therapeutic method which heals.

Complex Integration

CIMBS™ uses targeted therapeutic interventions to modulate the suppression, differentiation and/or activation of the different brain systems.

Emotional Freedom

Emotion-focused therapy (EFT) approaches healing from the belief that emotions are strongly linked to identity. Emotions guide us in defining preferences and making decisions on a daily basis.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy is a form of therapy that aims to separate the individual from the problem, allowing the individual to externalize their issues rather than internalize them.

About Debbie

Debbie Tantrum works primarily with women focusing on issues resulting from trauma and abuse. Most people come to therapy with anxiety and depression, sometimes not understanding why, and other times their loss is very recent and dramatic. Whether you are in the midst of a crisis or do not understand why you are struggling, Debbie loves helping women make sense of their stories and find wholeness.

Debbie is an experienced counselor having started her private practice in August 2010 with the experience in the mental health field beginning in 1997.

My clients can expect to feel better with the lessening of trauma trapped in their bodies and emotions. Feeling more whole and in charge of your life is possible.

The therapeutic process makes it possible to become more integrated and with expanding awareness, an improved ability to make healthier decisions.

We require a safe, participatory relationship with effective therapeutic techniques to confront the violent effects of abuse and trauma.

Her work has included: adolescent girls, married couples, premarital couples, depression, anxiety, shame, cycles of addiction and self-harm, stress, and anger. Debbie’s work is now primarily with individual adult women.

Additionally, she has worked on loneliness, grief and loss, life transitions, acute/current and post-traumatic stress disorders, and guidance for spiritual/church issues with a Christian counseling perspective.

Debbie graduated from the University of Washington in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Dance before obtaining a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Theological Studies at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.

Since graduating Debbie has become a student of C.I.M.B.S. (complex integration of multibrain systems) technique, focusing on neurological study while retaining a holistic approach to healing.

She has also worked as a facilitator for The Allender Center for Abuse and Trauma. As well, fifteen years previously Debbie volunteered on a sexual assault crisis line as well as trained as a group facilitator of survivors of sexual abuse.
